A price comparison

Let's move on to the last item in our little "series" on the topic of Clean Eating. Clean Eating is a form of nutrition that consciously avoids preservatives, colourings and flavour enhancers (including sugar).

The point that is made in this post is interesting because it relates to our own products and we are looking at the extent to which prepmymeal Clean Eating implements. We also look at a price comparison between a 6-meal box from us and a week's worth of home-cooked and home-bought Meal Prep. In short, we compare how much it would cost to imitate one of our Meal Boxes to have six different dishes for a week. This takes into account that everything is cooked in the style of the Clean Eatings is purchased and processed.

Where does prepmymeal implement Clean Eating?

- No preservatives and colourings

- No flavour enhancers, no added sugar

- Dishes are prepared in a gentle way

Cooked so that no nutrients arelost

- Products are largely sourced regionally

- Seasonal vegetables (seasonal box)

- Only fresh ingredients are used, which means

no canned vegetables

- Use of pulses, pseudocereals,

Superfoods and whole grains in dishes.
- Use of high quality meat

This falls outside the Clean Eating concept at prepmymeal:

- not all the noodles in our dishes are made from

Wholemeal (e.g. rice noodles)

The next two points are aspects that are considered by the very strict advocates of this diet:

- Tofu (as described in our blog post "What is Clean?

Eating?" is mentioned here, however, opinions differ. opinions)

- The packaging for our Meal Boxes is designed to be

Large part biodegradable and recyclable. However, our boxes are equipped with a thin plastic film that ensures that the dishes can be sealed airtight. Strict advocates of this diet sometimes completely dispense with plastic in relation to the packaging of their food.

Price comparison Meal Prep home cooked vs. bought

Now let's go back to the topic of meal prep, which is very often associated with the Clean Eating diet. When you prepare a week's worth of meals at home, they usually differ only a little, one or two components are changed - often only the sauce - and accordingly all the meals are basically very similar, if not the same dish for the whole week. This is practical in terms of shopping, because you don't want to have a huge amount of ingredients at home, but the food quickly becomes monotonous.

What if you want variety every day?

For this reason, we take a look at the cost of pre-cooking six different meals for a week. To do this, we take all the ingredients in our 6-item Classic Bestseller box and look at how much each ingredient would cost if you still had to add allcompared to the price we offer. Remember that in Clean Eating, all sauces are homemade. For all the foods listed, we have made sure that the price corresponds to foods that have been treated the least or are of organic quality.

Conclusion

Of course, you usually already have ingredients like salt, pepper or olive oil at home and don't have to buy them separately. You also have some of the dry products (rice and pasta) left over, so you can continue to use them and don't have to buy them again. But even if you don't have to buy everything again, you are still "priced out" when you cook yourself, because another precious unit that should be taken into account here is the Timethat you have to invest in the whole effort.

It really is precious, because as the saying goes? Time is money.

Not only do you have to take into account the time-consuming shopping to get hold of all these ingredients, but also the fact that you have to be careful with the Clean Eating Meal preppers make everything from scratch, not only the dish itself, but also the sauces. If you get and process all the ingredients in one day, you lose almost a whole day of free time, because most Meal Preppers prepare their dishes at the weekend. Likewise, valuable free time is lost if you want to cook this way every day, because shopping and banging around with other customers after a stressful day at work is time that you could use for yourself - to relax, do sports or meet friends. No matter how you ultimately implement the shopping, with both methods there is still the washing, chopping, mixing, chopping, cooking, sautéing and seasoning. Afterwards, you still have to tidy up and clean up.

So it results in a longer process that would not pay off in terms of the money you would have to spend on these six dishes and the time you invest. Assuming, of course, that you really don't have any of the food you need at home.

You wouldn't have to consider these aspects if you chose a Meal Box from us. With our lines and categories, we offer a diverse selection of dishes that are suitable for different diets. For example, we have a vegan and vegetarian box, but also boxes for those who like to eat meat. What they all have in common, however, is that they are Clean Eating principle are compiled. With prepmymeal you will definitely save money if you want to enjoy different dishes for a week. But you also save valuable time, because you no longer have to do the time-consuming cooking and shopping. You can heat up our dishes in a relaxed way and eat clean despite less work.
